South Filmfare Awards to be held on July 12

Chennai, Jun 19: The 61st Idea Filmfare Awards, south edition, will be held at the Nehru Indoor Stadium of the Sports Development Authority of India on July 12, here.

Southern edition of Filmfare Awards will consist awards for Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam films. The awards were introduced in the year 1953 for Tamil and Telugu industries. In 1967, Malayalam films were also given awards. In 1970, Kannada films were also awarded.

As of 2013, there are ten awards given to each industry in different categories.
