St Peter's Association celebrates patron feast

Mumbai, July 2: St Peter's Association (Barkur) Mumbai, a well-known association celebrated their patron feast and held the annual day celebrations on Sunday June 29 at Marol Andheri.

There was a high mass at St Vincent Pallotti church followed by a get-together organized at Kashyap Hall Andheri East.


Annual general body meeting president Peter Furtado welcomed the gathering after the prayer. Secretary Eric Carvalho read and confirmed minutes of last AGM held on June 30, 2013. General secretary Ivan Rebello addressed the gathering and informed about activities conducted in the last year. Treasurer Antony Dias read out to approve and pass accounts for year ended March 31, 2014.

The association has recently formed an educational fund. Nearly 15 children who have scored high marks in SSC, HSC, graduation and post graduation were honored with cash prizes. President requested all the like minded people to donate generously so that more children will be benefited in future.

Felix Barnes announced the selection of new office bearers for next three years. Boniface Sequeira was elected as the next president of the association. Other office bearers elected in the meeting were: vice presidents- Norbert Menezes and Thimothy Dsouza. General secretary- Eric Carvalho, joint secretary- Arthur Mendonca, treasurer- John Gonsalves, co-ordinator- Ivan Rebello, PRO- Jolvin Furtado and event manager- Joylan Fernandes.

Prominent industrialists Benni Lewis, Harry Rebello and Regi Carvalho were present. Nearly 200 people attended the function.

Ida Roche spoke about how the association could be strengthened.  Ivan Suares proposed the vote of thanks while Joylan compeered.
