BJP drops Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi from Parliamentary Board

New Delhi, Aug 26 (IANS): In a move marking the end of the era of stalwarts like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, L.K. Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi, the BJP Tuesday came up with a list of its highest decision-making body, the parliamentary board, which excluded the seniors.

The move marked the culmination of the generational shift that began in the Bharatiya Janata Party when Narendra Modi was made the prime ministerial candidate.

The BJP instead included the seniors in a separate group, the 'Margdarshak Mandal' (guiding committee), which it said will guide the party.

The parliamentary board will now be headed by BJP president Amit Shah, and marked the entry of J.P. Nadda and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the core group.

The guiding group includes Vajpayee, Advani and Joshi as well as Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

Modi and Rajnath Singh are also in the parliamentary board.

"Party president Amit Shah has constituted a 'margdarshak' committee with veteran party leaders as its members for guiding party activities," an official release said.

Congress leader Rashid Alvi dismissed it as an "old age home" for leaders.

"It is a mookdarshak mandal (committee of silent watchers). It is like an old age home from where Advani and Joshi will witness the functioning of BJP like mutes. We were all aware that they are being sidelined," he told reporters.

Congress leader Manish Tewari said it was "centralisation of power".

"Very soon, only two leaders from Gujarat will be there. The exit of Advani and Joshi is the first step, it will soon be a two-member party," Tewari said.

BJP spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, however, said the guiding committee was not a permanent committee. "It's a temporary committee," he said.

The constitution of the BJP does not have any provision for such a group and the parliamentary board remains the highest decision-making body, party sources said.

The sources said Joshi was informed about the decision by Modi himself, while Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu informed Advani.

The other members of the 12-member parliamentary board are Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Naidu, Nitin Gadkari, Ananth Kumar, Thawar Chand Gehlot and Ramlal.

The central election committee of the party was also announced Tuesday.

It has Shah as its chief, and includes Modi, Rajnath Singh, Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, Naidu, Gadkari, Chouhan and Shahnawaz Hussain.

Talking to reporters in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Chouhan, however, stressed that Advani "remains the guiding light for the whole party".

It is quite hurtful and painful to know that the persons who built BJP are thrown out of the Parliamentary Board and 'naam ke vasthe' accommodated in advisory committee which is a toothless and powerless body. The party may have to face the negative impact of it in the days to come.

I am a die hard supporter of Modiji because I want my beloved India to prosper, let all people live a life in confort.let poorest among poor benifit from the policies of the government, let there be peace and true secularism in the soceity, let govt not play vote banking by deviding the people on caste lines, let there be no scams in the government etc.,And after seeing th mega scams in UPA 1 and 2 I am confident that atleast we can now hope 50% of our dream come true under new BJP/NDA govt.
I am pained to see the tow senior stalwarts and founding members of BJP are left outside PB when they are physically/mentally fit to guide the party.Govt/leaders like Modi or Amit Shah may do mistake but it is people who should resent their wrong doings and do the best as per peoples wish. This is what is needed now lest the present decision may prove doom to the party's future prospectus.People/RSS should not tel 'Jai' to anything and every thing.

We had voted for this party in 1996, 1999 and 2004. But have realized now that its a party with difference: 1. Party President is accused in murder case. 2. Minister accused of rape case. 3. MLAs watch porn in Assembly 4. MPs accused of instigating communal violence. 5. Riot mongers being given Z security. 6. Assured stable prices and we get uncontrolled price hike.7. We are being hammered left, right and center by filthy pakees and our defence min, foreign min and P.m are in 'Silent mode'.8. BJP MP's are busy talking in divisive tone and there is no sign of inclusive development.

Lastly only a few more days left for September to bring back black money, AS PROMISED by BJP before elections....but its nowhere in sight.

Loyal voters translates to fixed number of voters, but in 2014 their vote share has gone up...HOW was it possible??? who were those who voted for BJP? Any idea?

Answer - Those who would have voted for COng and other parties in previous election, opted to vote for bjpee.

What a double standard by Congress..
    1. When BJP projected LKA as Prime Ministarial candidate in 2009, they told there are no young leaders in BJP. After 5 years they cry foul that old leader is sidelined.
    2. When Raul Vince can become leader by sidelining all the seniors, now congress is crying foul mentioning sidelining of LKA. Do they have any moral right and shame?
    3. In most of the houses, parents after becoming old will handover the responsibilities to younger ones. The same thing happened here also. This is law of nature.
    4. When Modi became prime ministarial candidate in 2014, the same group cried foul mentioning LKA is sidelined. The result is absolute majority for Modi. Now again they are crying foul.

BJP understands very well that whenever congress crying foul on its internal matters, it shows desperation of congress. Good for BJP.

"Jaane kahaan gaye woh din kehte the teri raah mein nazron ko hum bichhayenge."
"Apni nazar mein aaj kal din bhi andheri raat hai. saaya hi apne saath tha, saaya hi apni saat hai"
They built the party, develop the party in the name of Ram Mandir, Rahta yaatra etc. Increased the MPs from 2 to 200. But now they thrown in to dust bin. Some of the expired goods from BJP thrown to the states as governors. good going. Som BJP supporters in this forum saying they want to retain youngsters only. Is Modi is a young star?

    Mr. Abdul Rafique,
Everyone knows how congress sidelines some of their veteran leaders like PVN, Seetharam Kesari for the "Pattabhisheka" of Sonia Gandhi.

Systematically LK Advani was sidelined right from the issue of Jinna till now by RSS.The Party which built brick by brick by Advani left from the core committee as PREKSHAK which is not a graceful exit.I think this insult was meted to him by divine power for seeding of divisions in the form of RATH YATHRA...Indeed this is not a graceful exit.
