Mangalore, Oct 23: Taking cue from ‘Magnet 2014’, a world convention of Mangalorean businessmen and entrepreneurs, which was held in April this year, the host Rachana, a forum of Catholic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mangalore is planning to nurture over 100 youth into entrepreneurship.

John Monteiro, president of Rachana said that Rachana Entrepreneur Development Cell is formed exclusively to work to achieve this goal.

He was addressing the gathering at the handing over ceremony of  Magnet-2014 projects on Thursday October 23, at Bishop House, Mangalore.

MLC and former president of Rachana, Ivan D’Souza in his speech asked successful entrepreneurs to support the cause.

"Those who have excelled in different fields from our community should train others. Many Catholics in the past were businessman, but lately the youth have been only going abroad.” Ivan said.

In his key note address, Albert D’Souza, an educationalist from Mumbai asked Rachana to adapt certain methodologies to train the young generation entrepreneurs.

“I request Rachana to fetch students from engineering, medical, commerce and other colleges to train them with the new strategies such as innovation and inner inspiration. Tell them clearly the difference between employee and employer. I also request Rachana to guide second generation businessmen to revamp their skills.”Albert D’Souza said.

Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza advised Rachana not to limit themselves to meetings but to reach out to the community with realistic works. He congratulated the chamber for taking up these two special projects.

The committee members of ‘Magnet 2014’ handed over Rs 12.5 lac, the surplus amount generated from the event to Rachana, its parental body. The corpus will be used to support ‘Magnet Venture Fund’ and ‘Rachana Cooperative Society’ which are formed to boost the entrepreneurship in Mangalore.

Walter D’Souza, president of Magnet spoke on the occasion. Roy Castelino, president of Konkani Sahithya Academy was also present.

Brian Fernandes, member of Rachana, compered the event. Marcel Monteiro proposed vote of thanks.

For me, none of the speakers who are present in the dais, are qualified to speak about this subject.

I do appreciate the initiative taken by Rachana to nurture 100 youth into entrepreneurship and being it is the first move, by Rachana, it is a good sign.

Every new entrepreneur should remember, overnight no body becomes successful. Case study like Dirubhai Ambani, Narayana Murthry, Bank founder of Syndicate Bank, Corporate Bank, Karnataka Bank, Canara Bank etc can give our youngsters and new
entrepreneur some guidelines & motivation. Above all, one should have orgainsational skills, right decisions making quality & application of mind.

We wish all entrepreneur's good luck.

Unfortunate to see such a less number of crowd. Hardly 50 persons discussing about creating 100 entrepreneurs. Why MLA J R Lobo has not been seen here? The presence of Nominated MLC in Artist's Quota does not compensate for the presence of Elected MLA.

First of all those present small enterprises should be encouraged by giving orders to them and financial support and guidance and make them to stand on their own feet and show how small industries can grow. If larger enterprises of catholics do not encourage them then it will be a unsuccessful venture.

Un fortunately all these advisers & education barons on stage talk about sauces story of entrepreneurs . i strongly feel student will learn tricks of trade EASILY by analysing failure stories of Vijay Mallya, Subrato ROY, Rama Linga Raju,Rajat Gupta....rather than their story.
does all those who preach here on stage practice the same in their own institutions?
If it is so they would have been not employed contract/casual/ temporary professors in their institutes.

Dear Sirs, Where are the facilities and infrastructure in Mangalore for the educated young to start the business and small scale industry. My request is kindly make a roadmap for facilities and infrastructure and submit to State and Central Government and put pressure on them. Just giving loans/funds will not be sufficient.
