Diamond jubilee celebrations of Kannada Kala Kendra concludes

Mumbai, Oct 28: Kannada Kala Kendra Mumbai held a two day diamond jubilee celebrations at Dr M Vishweswaraya hall at Mahim West, on Sunday, October 26.

Kala Kendra president Byloor Balachandra Rao presided over the programme. P Pradeep Kumar, managing director of State Bank of India was present as the chief guest.

Bharath Bank general manager Nithyananda D Kotian, Vasanth Shetty Bellare, New Delhi, senior author and scientist Dr Vyasarao Ninjoor, dramatist Dr Bharath Kumar Polipu was present. Senior litterateur Dr Sunita M Shetty, Yakshagana artiste Sheni Shama Bhat and Krishna Kumari Shama Bhat were felicitated on the occasion. Suvarna Shree award was presented to senior dramatist and litterateur Shimunje Parari.

Various Yakshagana artistes in the city came together and presented two Yakshagana plays. Sheni Shama Bhat and Shashidhar Bharighat gave lectures on Yakshagana and dramatists respectively. Sangha founder members K Raghurama Rao and K Jagannath Rao who were present were also felicitated and given mementos.

Joint secretary Ramesh Birthi, members K Srinivasa Bhat, Shailini Rao, Vishwanath Dodmane, Vasanth K Shetty were present. Kala Kendra president Bylooru Balachandra Rao welcomed and gave a key note address. Honorary vice-president, Dr P G Rao and member Navin Shetty presented bouquet of flowers to Innabalike guests and honoured them.

Honorary chief secretary Madhusoodan T R welcomed and compered the programme. Geetha R L Bhat introduced the felicitation recipients. Triveni Kala Sangama team presented 'Mangamanikya' drama directed by Dr B V Rajaram as part of the programme.
