I think, the name of the hospital should have been mentioned, so that public will be more alert in going to that hospital for such treatment !

people should consult some medical known people before deciding to go for like this major surgery because in Udipi we don't have such facility do gastric sleeve and bypass or plasty for obese people. after these surgery need post operative care by qualified people like MD in anesthetist and CPR team to treat like this case. but in private we don't have such facility because they are only purpose is business not service by paying salary for these team.

@Rudolf Mumbai, everythig is healthy till a certain extent.I dont say you are wrong nor right. The only Point is we should not take fat things too much and sugar intake should be also limited.swcond we should not believe all advertise ment and consume products in which some hidden products add the factory doesnt mention .Important we should accordingly move on,not as Couch potatoes sit most of the time .Everything in Balance is always good. These cosmetic Operation I feel was unnecessary.when then should find out who is a good one, some because of Money think they too will try.Manytimes cosmetic surgery can not only end life, but lifelong have to suffer with their Retardation as ugly look. That is too hard.Nowadays Young women seek cosmetic ways.I can only warn them. They loose their normal beuty whensomething goes wrong. It is only a few days beuty.when cosmetic is needed after a accident or burns ,I dont say dont. But loosing natural beuty ,i am against.here the Person who operated should be taken to Task.

@Rita, I did not mean go on a binge, but the fact that naturally grown non genetically modified is best suited for the body with minimal side effects except when indulged in excess, all modified, processed foods have serious side effects including the most commonly used item 'iodized salt', sea salt is the best but the power of the greedy MNCs have forced us to consume chemical salt which is actually harmful to the body, same for so many other items!!!!

Very unfortunate and sad thing to happen. R.I.P.

Regular exercise (at least half an hour per day) and control over intake of food will surely help to
    Keep fit and healthy.

We can see some of the Hindi celebrities how they have destroyed their original beauty due to plastic surgery.

Proper investigations need to be carried out regarding the cosmetic surgery intended to reduce fat. If this procedure has been conducted by non-qualified person, indeed he should be severely dealt with.

Two days back I read in Vijaya Karnataka news paper that children born to slightly fat women are more intelligent than the children born to slim women. Because the FAT in mother's body provides required proteins (DHA acid) to the child for better development of the brain of the child inside the womb as well as during breast feeding after birth.

Following information was copied from google and pasted here :-

The development of a baby’s brain relies on the supplies of fat held in its mothers thighs and buttocks, according to science. In an interview with the Sunday Times (£), Prof Lassek explains that fats in these areas are utilised particularly during breastfeeding and may affect intelligence.

You need lots of fat to make a nervous system and the fats in these areas are also enriched in DHA [docosahexaenoic acid] which is a particularly important component in the human brain.
It looks as if women have evolved to accumulate these fats and hold on to them — until a baby arrives says Prof Lassek, University of Pittsburgh

A good piece of information Mr. Shenava.
Some women who are always busy with dieting even after marriage to stay slim, should read the original Article in Internet.

Agree, pure ghee produced from grass eating cows is the most healthiest of fats nature provides and one can have it without the fear of increasing cholesterol blah blah as against the so called low fat margarine which the MNCs market, which actually is a poison if you do some research on the same no doubt pure ghee was in use since times immemorial in our culture until these rogue MNCs came in and manipulated things with their money power!! So also, coconut oil is the best as against hydrogenated oils (again pushed on us by the powerful MNCs), which are the root cause of many problems and causes an inflammatory process in the body, root cause for a multitude of problems!!

Agree with your comments. But DHA is not a protein. It's an essential fatty acid found in fish oil and not something humans can produce. Just saying.

It is sad that more we earn, more the greed occurs. Who knows what was the status of Mr. late Udayashankara Kamath. Pre-anesthetic care or post op care is hardly present. As well, was there a post op care intensive care unit? Doctor's need to educate patients as well. I do not want to blame the doctor's. But post op patient dies!!! this is still happening in India, while foreigners go to India to get operated..Scary..

Now a 'Hour at the Bar' has changed all that. I am now 'Slim-Trim'.
There are different exercises for different people, no doubt.
All these cosmetic surgeries, a trend of late, are definitely coupled with serious side effects. One should be very careful. Sad to read this.
Should be an eye opener for many.

what a tragedy. Looks fascinated by these advertisements. Now who will be held responsible. I am sure doctor and hospital must have taken an acknowledgment from him before going for surgery. We don't care while signing such documents. Now they can cleanly escape if they have taken such agreement from him. Major loss for his wife and son.

All fat is not bad as prescribed by the most of the Doctors now a day…. Fat contents are also required in our body but it should be well controlled too. To burn your fat, no need to go for surgery instead control your eating habits and at least walk few miles in a day on regular basis…….

Bro, in some people morbid obesity is not amenable to conventional methods like diet control and exercises, these are mostly genetic cases and due to some other unknown causes so it is a myth that controlling diet and exercise can reduce obesity in all candidates!!

Many Doctors suggest such cosmetic surgery even in Mangalore to people who even have fat slightly above prescribed limit as per Height/Age. Now it is proved that such surgery is fatal and Doctors who prescribe such surgery do it only for money.

Bro, you are right, most of the cases are unwarranted and are recommended just for making money, and this innocent victim would have a long natural life if he had not fallen to the glib talks of the specialist!!!

Not only this, a recent survey clearly suggests that more than 45% of complex surgeries are unwarranted especially knee joint replacements and bypass surgeries! No doubt that the once noble profession has become totally business minded at the cost of the gullible innocent patients!! Jai Hind!!

RIP!! Some people are morbidly obese due to genetic and certain other factors so conventional methods do not bring any reduction in weight!!

What type of weight loss surgery he has undergone (liposuction or gastric banding) is not mentioned!! Both are high risk procedures, especially the latter one, which should be considered only as a last resort in highly morbid obesity as it has severe complications and risks including psychiatric problems it is normally only done after following a strict protocol including intense psychiatric counseling!! In such procedures it is only the person who performs the procedure fattens his bank balance leaving the patient in a high risk condition!! Jai Hind!!
