Mangalore, Jan 9: The district Lioness meet ‘Bhavaikya’ was held here on Sunday January 8. The meet was inaugurated by Lions district 324-D5 governor Dr B Udayashankar Shet.

Speaking on the occasion, Lions multiple council chairperson Kripa Amar Alva said that nearly 50 per cent of the country’s populations consists of women who are suppressed and unable to express themselves. The country cannot develop without their participation, she said.

Dr Shet lauded the efforts of the Lioness club in introducing the psychiatry ward at Wenlock Hospital.

Taranga managing editor Sandhya S Pai was the chief guest while district Lioness coordinator Uma B Hegde presided over the meet.

Among those present were first lady of district 324-D5 Sandhya Shet, vice district governor H G Venkatesh, conference committee chairperson M Vatsala Rajni, secretary Sowmya S Shetty and treasurer Asha Chandramohan.
