'Delhi Tsunami': Uddhav Thackeray's salt for BJP wounds

NEW DELHI, Feb 10 (NDTV) : With Arvind Kejriwal handing his party a near-perfect score in the Delhi election, top leaders from around the country were quick to congratulate him. Among them, Uddhav Thackeray, chief of the Shiv Sena. It's not just that Mr Thackeray was effusive in his praise of Mr Kejriwal - Maharshtra Chief Minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis was among those who acknowledged his incredible victory. But Mr Thackeray, whose party is an ally of the BJP, appropriated Mr Kejriwal's result for a pointed jab at the Prime Minister. "The people of Delhi have shown the might of a tsunami against a wave," said Mr Thackeray.

"The Modi wave" is used by the BJP as a summation of the Prime Minister's popularity. In the national election, the PM proved that wasn't wishful thinking - he led the BJP to the strongest election result in India in nearly 30 years.

Mr Kejriwal has rivalled that feat today. His Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which is two years old, is likely to get 67 of 70 seats in the capital. Despite rallies by the Prime Minister and top union ministers and the deployment of 120 national law-makers to coordinate its campaign, the BJP is likely to get a scanty three seats.

Mr Thackeray's Shiv Sena partners with the BJP to govern Maharashtra; it is also a member of the PM's coalition government. Ahead of the Maharashtra election last year, the Sena and the BJP went through a nasty break-up. The BJP won first place in the election but not a majority. The Sena, which was runner-up, was made to sweat by BJP leaders before they allowed an alliance, which brought Mr Thackeray's party back to power after nearly 15 years spent in the opposition.

I feel the readers here should look forward and wish Arvind the best in his endeavours in running Delhi administration. We need an alternative to the congress which is presently tainted and rudderless. AAP has good principles with committed members and I think they would be the best alternative.

The young generation wants peace and prosperity. They love beauty than religion. Religion is only to guide not to fight. In my younger days I have seen young Christians don't go to church, Hindus mix easily with Christian festivities and vice versa, next election will show any political party which plays secular and allows other people to sleep peacefully at night will win. This is my hope and message to all extremists.

Have you heard of the phrase 'once bitten twice shy'? Well, it applies as much to Bihar or any other state as it does to Delhi. And moreover, as per many fortune tellers in this blog, Delhi was supposed to be a piece of cake for BJP which in reality turned out to be a bone in the throat!

    Jeevan,

Don't try to spoil the vote share of BJP further by writing "faaltu" comments. The main reason for Delhi debacle is rise of fraud and illiterate Saadhus and Sanyayanis and hate mongering statements of some Hindu fringe groups. BJP should discard themselves from these Saadhus and Sanyanis and stop giving tickets to them. Otherwise there will be no takers for Modi’s development agenda. Result of congress party is in front of them, what lesson voters will teach you if you indulge in vote bank politics heavily.

    Dear all Indian Leaders,
We are a nation of youth and we have dreams.
You played with our dreams for 65 years. Its enough.
We want to behave like Indians, not as Kannadigas, Marathis, Madrasis, Keralites etc. Be Indian first then the state.
You are busy working on Bills for anti-conversion, Ghar Wapsi etc etc, which are in no way progressive means for this country.
Your people make irresponsible and dangerous comments, that curtails the productivity, diminishes the opportunities.
Now we want a legislation for every Elected Member to be in Office for only 2 terms, so that all citizens will have an opportunity to govern.
Bring Social systems based on economical strengths, not on the basis of cast, creed, minority, majority.
Remove the column of cast/Religion etc from all forms of applications and initiatives.
We congratulate Kejriwal, the youth power. We need Education, social security, job based skills development, increase our spending power, Life style to live in a developed India....
Bring peace and prosperity, stop hate to build India. Jai Hind.

Excerpt from an article by AAP Leader Ashutosh....

"By mid-December, we had regained our confidence. We knew it would be a tough contest but we would pull through. Modi was the only hitch. We waited for Modi to address his rally at Ram Lila Ground. The rally flopped. We were ecstatic. The BJP's trump card had failed. The BJP became desperate and started looking for someone who could be as credible as Arvind. It could not find one in its party. It had to borrow from outside. Kiran Bedi was d the Chief Ministerial candidate. We were a little apprehensive. But we knew that if she started talking to cameras, she would be a great asset for AAP. She delivered. Our script was complete. Bedi could not control herself."

Conclusion: Daku Shah purchased a problematic third hand car aka Bedi who only made a mess for bjp whenever she opened her mouth.

    hahahaha!

As BJP made SS eat humble pie before they joined the govt , SS is looking for a alternative for the next Maharastra election. Mumbai or Maharashtra will definitely be next big destination for aap and SS also knows themselves they woke nevr be able to make govt of their own anymore. So trying to warm up. But with the number of wor so in their can they can't afford to divorce with BJP becaue another widow NCP is more than ready for alliance for CBI is just on a phone call away from Amith shah.

You can fool some people some time and not all the people all the time - The Central Govt. leaders should realise this old adage and stop fooling people by their dramatic oratory skills which only give short turn results. Raj Dharma should be followed by national leaders and petty politics does not pay dividends.
