Mangalore, Feb 10: ‘Devere Teerpu’ a drama by Saurabha Kalavidaru has emerged the winner in the recently held state-level Tulu drama competition organised by the state Tulu Sahitya Academy in view of Suvarna Karnataka celebrations.
Speaking to press persons here on Friday February 9, Academy president Seetaram Kulal informed that ‘Balime’ by Saikrishna and group from Mangalore and ‘Mugiyandina Kathe’ by Sharada Arts, Manjeshwar, won the first and second runners up titles, respectively.
He further said that the writer of ‘Devere Teerpu’ Girish Pilar was adjudged the best storywriter. The play won awards in several other categories like sound, best comedian, supporting actor, direction, and others.
Chandrakala Rao was presented with a special commemoration award in recognition of her role ‘Amma’ in ‘Bhairavana Nataka.’
The awards will be handed over to the winners at a programme to be held at Don Bosco Hall, Balmatta here Saturday February 10, he said.
