Passenger removed from UA flight after yelling 'Jihad!'

Washington, Mar 17, (PTI) United Flight 1074 bound for Denver returned to Dulles International Airport outside Washington, DC last night after passengers pounced on a man who had yelled "Jihad! Jihad!", according to comments posted on Reddit.

The flight returned to Dulles at around 10:40 pm after a "disturbance onboard," New York Daily News quoted Kimberly Gibbs, a spokeswoman for Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority as saying.

Gibbs said she did not know what happened on the flight.

The Boeing 737 was carrying 33 passengers and 6 crew.

Law enforcement personnel met the aircraft at the gate and detained the passenger and took him to a hospital for evaluation, Gibbs said.

Videos posted to Reddit showed a young man with facial cuts who had been subdued by several passengers after witnesses said he had made a run for the plane's cockpit.

A video posted on YouTube shows the passenger being subdued and crying, "I'm sorry", as a voice tells him not to move.preparing to take off again for Denver International Airport.

Earth today is a highly VOLATILE place to exists. Humans must realize that their words, actions, directly relate to turmoil, fear...
"JIHAD" in today's scenario is a highly offensive word........
It signifies DEATH & DESTRUCTION.. The passengers, alarmed & panicked by the sight of a screaming buffoon, charging towards the cockpit... signified a real threat to their lives...the pilot wisely flew the plane back, the offender arrested & interrogated.

People are not paranoid about the word "JIHAD" ... its the situation where it its used ... you would be equally paranoid if you were travelling on the same airplane where a co-passenger yells "STRUGGLE".

Dear santhosh....good day to u sir,

the word jihad derived from the arabic word jahada...which means struggle to reach ones goal. Hajj by elderly muslim istoo referred as jihad...again woman giving birth too is referred as jihad...man struggling to keep his family happy or united is too referred as jihad...again to fight in the cause of truth or justice is too referred as jihad n again to struggle in the cause of ones faith is too referred as jihad...jihad too at times is referred to a war like situation to overcome infidels or non believerrs who spread hate and disbelief n stop or teying to stop someone practining his belief...for eg if a ruler or a group stops muslim from going to masjid or if masjid comes under attack then muslims cant fight back to protect their rights n properties...jihad is allowed only in islamic countries n the ruler has to approve it..jihad is to be done only as an act of self defense or for protecting ones property or honour or protecting ones family n should be an act of defense n it cant be an offensive step...jihad is to takeplace for establishing justice n rule of law n no innocent person is to be harmed n no trees to be destroyed n no animals are to be killed n only the perperators of crime are to be dealt with...its a struggle towards just practices....live n let live philosophy..

Once a US bound passenger was at the Security gate and he was not happy the way the officials checking his body and hand carry baggage. He asked them 'do you think I have a bomb'. That was enough for them to detain him and questioning for hours. Finally they released him with warning which resulted missing the flight. Passengers should be careful when they are travelling. They are being watched by the security. This man should not have uttered that particular word because presently people think 'Jihad" means murder or terrorisam. This creates unnecessary problem for everyone.

Today people are more cautious about some of the words like Jihad,Allhuakbar,Yaallaha etc. whcih was not a thing before mainly after 9/11.Even people are afraid to sit near a passenger who is in burka or wearing a arabain checked muffler etc. Especially in plane its a night mare. I have heard people even switching seats and showing displeasure to sit beside such people. Is it because of hollywood movie effects or reality?.

    Rajes SG ..clearing your doubts...
    YaAllah means...Oh God ..
Allahu Akbar means God is great....
It doesnt mean to kill some one....Muslim express this words when either they are in happy of frightened ..
Jihad means "struggle dont think jihad as war ,there is particular arabic word for war....In Islam helping your ailing mother/father is also called jihad...feeding your family is also a jihad.....Even if war as arrived looking after your ailing family is more rewarding than taking part in war ...This is called as greatest Jihad...according to Islamic theology..i.e looking after mother and father ...
If somebody comes to attack you or your family ...Islam doesnt say let him hit you and you keep quiet...nothing sort of it is there..what it says is try to mediate with him to bring peace if he is still adamant to attack you/your family or property..etc then fight against him......This is also a jihad.....
Coming to people who are switching seats it is their personal desire we cant force them to sit beside us...If he thinks changing seat he would be safe in plane it is a foolish idea...
Finally If a muslim utter something in a flight it would become a major newsheadline....I think that guy is a muslim coz if he wasnt it wouldnt have become interntational news.... :-)
