The deceased have been identified as Dinesh and his son Abhishek, residents of Gandhinagar in Laila.

The accident took place when they were riding from Ujire towards Beltangady.

Madhusudan, auto driver who was witness to the incident, and who happens to be a relative of the accused, said that when Dinesh and Abhishek were riding towards Beltangady, another bike which was being ridden recklessly at a high speed, smashed into their bike near Benaka hospital.

Both Dinesh and Abhishek were thrown on to the road because of the impact. At that moment, a lorry which was passing by at a high speed ran over them, dragging their bike along.

Both were rushed to hospital, where Dinesh was declared brought dead. Abhishek breathed his last while being shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru.

The lorry, which was transporting sand, was plying towards Bengaluru.

Dinesh and Abhishek were painters by profession.

The other bike rider who hit the duo escaped from the spot. His identity is not known.

Based on a complaint filed by the auto driver Madhusudan, Beltangady police have registered a case. In his complaint, Madhusudan urged for strict action against the bike rider and the lorry driver.

    BC Road -Belthangay-Charmady Road

    Gurupur-Moodbidri-Belthangady -Charmady Road

Both roads are congested with 100s of 100s Sand trucks/tippers that ordinary traffic is increasingly looks dangerous and tricky.

    Solution

All sand laden vehicles should pass BC Road-Ujir & Gurupur-Moodbidri-Ujire after 8 PM only

BC Road -Belthangady-Bangalore(NH) road now a days has frequent accidents due Shirady road closure and Sand export from BC road to Chickmagaluru and Bangalore.

    Urgent Appeal

DC must take note of the traffic issues in these roads and do needful to save human lives.

    REST IN PEACE.

Lorry is said to be laden with Sand. Probably the lorry was carrying illegal Sand. Hence, he was driving very fast and caused accident. So one more victim of Sand mafia.

Careless drivers responsible for deaths are never punished properly in India. We consider it as accident instead of murder. Time to revisit the old traffic rules and amend them to suit present requirements. May their souls rest in peace.
