Udupi, Apr 22: Birti Rajesh Shetty, who had been functioning as the president of Brahmavar block Congress since the last five years, has resigned. He has sent his resignation letter to district Congress president, Gopal Poojary when only three months were left for him to complete his five year of term.

Shetty said he has stepped down, duly keeping an eye on the upcoming gram panchayat election. 'I wish that youngsters get power and opportunity to reorganize and strengthen the party and work for the success of the party in the coming panchayat election. I strongly stand by the belief that all sincere and dedicated party workers should get positions of power by rotation. I have successfully discharged duties entrusted by the party so far. For the time being, I will continue in the party as an ordinary member,' Shetty explained in a release.

Shetty had rendered service as a member of Varamballi village panchayat for four terms continuously and one time as a village panchayat President. He has also been working as director in Agricultural Co-operative Society, Brahmavar since five years. He entered the political field with Jayaprakash Hegde in the year of 2010.
