Kasargod: Nepal earthquake survivor Mohammed Azhar is grateful to God

Stephan Kayyar
Daijiworld Media Network - Kasargod (SP)

Kasargod, May 9: "We survived the earthquake scare because of the protective hand extended by the Lord. During the first 70 hours after the quake, we had been rendered orphans virtually. At last we could reach our homes safely," says Mohammed Azhar Ali (26), who reached his home in Deli in the district a week after he came back unscathed after the earthquake in Nepal threatened the lives of himself and his friends.

"At around 11.30 am on April 22, I began my four-day tour of Nepal along with five friends. At 6.30 the same day, we reached Kathmandu. We then travelled 110 km and booked room in a resort there. The next day, we reached near a bridge located by the side of a tourist spot. When we were engaged in adventure sports, we saw that huge boulders were falling down a four-km high mountain. We felt that some strange calamity like earthquake was happening. So we rushed towards our resort, and learnt about the earthquake.

"The walls of the resort where we stayed had developed cracks. Some lives had been lost in the area where we stayed. As the situation posed risks, we opted to stay in the open. Our fears turned worse when we found that we were unable to contact anyone. Our attempts to contact our close ones back home proved fruitless. We did not have food to eat," he explained.

"On April 27, we came to know that bus was available to the airport from Barabasi, about 20 km away. We walked this distance and reached there. We reached Kathmandu through a bus from there. From there, I could call my brother, Aziz, and tell him that we were safe," Azhar said in a voice choked with emotions.

He said that he availed four days off from his job in Dubai, to get rid of the fear that had entrenched in his mind, and that he would return to Dubai on May 10. Azhar Ali, working as chartered accountant for a private firm in Dubai, had gone to Nepal with his friends, Tanveer Rautar from Ernakulam, Majal Moidin from Kannur, Niad Khan from Hyderabad, Sunil Gandhi from Mumbai, and Anil from Talassery.

Azhar Ali, who went directly to Dubai from Nepal, came home after spending a week there. Relatives and friends have been making a beeline to his home to meet him and congratulate him on being safe.

Azhar said he came to know about the death of Dr Irshad from here and Dr Deepak from Kannur in the earthquake, only after he reached Dubai.

Like i said before ,the miracles occurring at Lourdes are scrutinized and confirmed by the practitioners of medicine themselves, you mean to tell me that doctors who confirm a case as a true miracle are faking it ?and the bureau welcomes any doctor from any corner of the world respective of their race or religion to study the cases and conclude it.

"Scientist have rifts ....what about the religious"
    - People can believe what they want. God has given humans free will.
    - Bringing Hitler into the discussion is cheap. If you want to count numbers of people who died, then Atheistic materialism has done far worse (abortion, genocide, suicides, etc.)
    - The Church condemns sin and warns its ill effects, can Atheistic materialism condemn sin or anything for that matter?

Chris you need your brain to understand this not an atheist.......
A placebo is anything that seems to be a "real" medical treatment but isn't. It could be a pill, a shot, or some other type of "fake" treatment. What all placebos have in common is that they do not contain an active substance meant to affect health.
    How Are Placebos Used?
Researchers use placebos during studies to help them understand what effect a new drug or some other treatment might have on a particular condition.
For instance, some people in a study might be given a new drug to lower cholesterol. Others would get a placebo. None of the people in the study will know if they got the real treatment or the placebo.
Researchers then compare the effects of the drug and the placebo on the people in the study. That way, they can determine the effectiveness of the new drug and check for side effects.
    What Is the Placebo Effect?
Sometimes a person can have a response to a placebo. The response can be positive or negative. For instance, the person's symptoms may improve. Or the person may have what appears to be side effects from the treatment. These responses are known as the "placebo effect."
There are some conditions in which a placebo can produce results even when people know they are taking a placebo. Studies show that placebos can have an effect...google

And you need to use that brain of yours to to actually understand what i meant,i know what placebo is ,you friend there attributed to some of the miracles confirmed by Lourdes as being achieved through placebos,is that the best answer he could give ,or was it his excuse for backing out ? when you cant answer something you bring in such nonsense as "placebos"placebos are mostly used in comparative studies when some new medicine is introduced ...at best it can only offer a mental disillusion not a permanent cure.

Now how can you say the big bang is an idiotic theory?? What is your educational qualification to call it such? Are you an astrophysicist?

Big bang is widely accepted theory in scientific community. If you have an alternative explanation other than you quoting your book then please put forward your theory.

I dont want to explain in detail on why Big Bang Theory is widely accepted. If you really want to know of such matter you can read countless articles on internet.

''its(big bang) only the speculations which people express in their theories''

Its not the ordinary people expressing their theories, but well learned astrophysicist like , Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Big Bang is the best explanation that we have currently based on the evidence mentioned below,

    1. Redshift of Galaxies
    2. Cosmic Microwave Background
    3. Mixture of Elements
    4. Looking back in time.

If you dont want to know its ok. But please understand even if you think big bang is lie it doesnt make whatever you believe true.

People like you never attack Laws of gravity, climate science and rest of the science that we use or read about everyday. I would love to hear your or people who think like you give an explanation about why does thunder or why does it rain.

Chances of you getting cured of any disease at Lourdes isnt more(certainly less) than you getting cured after taking placebo pills. little more than 7000 claim to have cured but only 70 or so has been accepted as miracle(possibly placebo effect) by the church.

It is estimated that in recent years about 5 million pilgrims a year visit the shrine at Lourdes. Over the past 150 years, some 200 million people have made the pilgrimage.* For those who care, that's a success rate of .0000335% or 1 out of every 3 million.

You know the story with the gigantic flood to rid of the evil people? Noah's Ark? No, not that one. The other one.

In the Bible it says that men had become corrupt and God's only choice was to pick one man to continue life, and subject everyone else to a flood so they would drown to death. He felt really bad about it though.

Zeus got sick of everyone and decided to kill them all with a gigantic flood.

God chose his one man, Noah, and told him to build an ark and take his wife, three sons and their wives to safety.

That trouble maker Prometheus knew about the flood and told his son Deucalion to build an ark and take his wife to safety. Apparently Zeus didn't notice until too late and didn't care for some reason.

The Point of these stories: Your god will kill you.

    Randi $1,000,000 paranormal challenge
( no one has taken the bet even Lourdes )
James Randi, a.k.a. The Amazing Randi, magician and author of numerous works skeptical of paranormal, supernatural, and pseudoscientific claims has for about ten years offered "a one-million-dollar prize to anyone who can show, under proper observing conditions, evidence of any paranormal, supernatural, or occult power." His rules were little more than what any reasonable scientist would require. If you are a mental spoon bender, you couldn't use your own spoons. If you claimed to see auras, you'd have to do so under controlled conditions. If you claimed to be able to do remote viewing, you wouldn't be given credit for coming close in some vague way. If you were going to demonstrate dowsing powers, you would have to be prepared to be tested under controlled conditions. If you were going to do psychic surgery or experience the stigmata, you would have to do so with cameras watching your every move.

Nature or what one would call it as God does not discriminate, it follows the natural laws 'unbiased' like the Sun which rises in the morning, does its duty and sets in the evening oblivious of the fact whether you admire it, use his energy, or curse it, he is not bothered about anything but its duty, and he is the SUSTAINER OF LIFE!!!

'It is through an earthquake that the Earth relieves its stress by losing excessively large amounts of energy. This exit of enormous amount of energy leaves the Earth shaken up. Geologists and seismologists talk about tectonic plates' movement as a reason for earthquakes. These tectonic plates, n fact, are moved by energy, for othing can move without nergy. Shaking of the Earth s not bad from the Earth's per pective it is just a way for the arth to relieve itself from the tress of excessive energy. This s a universal law. Thus earthquakes are a boon for the Earth o maintain its energy balance nd, therefore, its integrity.
An earthquake is cosmic benevolence to maintain the integrity of the Earth. We, however, curse an earthquake because `an earthquake is a natural disaster'. It is no natural disas ter, in fact. Those who are killed, as we witness in every big earthquake and recently in Nepal, are not really victims of the quake as such but are victims of unsafe structures. In most cases, what kills is the dwelling technology. We do not, and we cannot, run away from an earthquake. We run away from the fear of house collapse. These deaths are not natural. Therefore, most times, the reason for mass deaths is anthropogenic.
From a non-human perspective, Earthquakes are not natural `disasters'.Our housing structures are. We need to make dwellings and other structures that are quake-resistant. We do have the technology and knowhow to do this and to take necessary precautions for safety via early warning systems and public awareness of how to meet the challenge of an impending quake and after so that human loss is minimized.~extracted from the 'Living Tree'~

Bringing God in between is a simple way of 'running away from the facts of nature'!!!! Jai Hind!!

God gives everyone enough time to recognize Him. He is ever patient, loving and waits for us to come to Him. We do not understand His ways, but He knows us. Pray for all those souls who stand before God after the devastating earthquake in Nepal, who lived their lives as if they had a tomorrow, never to see it again. Remember Noah and the flood where people were eating, drinking and making merry till the last minute. Jesus mentions this in Matthew 24.
