Mangalore, Mar 29:  Irked by power failure throughout the day and then again in the night, locals picketed MESCOM power station at Mannagudda on Wednesday March 28 night.

As announced earlier there was power failure in the city for the entire day on Wednesday.  Though power supply was restored in the evening, there were two more jolts once again.  But the locals lost their cool when power was not restored for long after a failure around 10 pm.

The ever-increasing heat, mosquito menace etc have been giving sleepless nights to people even when there is regular supply of power.  But on Wednesday night, owing to power failure, people were left high and dry without knowing whether to retire to bed or wait till the power is restored.

But people in the Mannagudda region had some other plans.  Most of them grouped themselves together in the night and picketed the MESCOM power station cum office.  None of the excuses provided by the officials could prevent them from laying a siege to power station.

Finally the MESCOM officials had to bow before the people's force.  Power supply was restored within 15 minutes.
