Mangalore, Apr 2: A bike rider was killed after being knocked down by a recklessly-driven tipper at Derlakatte near here on Sunday April 1 evening.

The deceased has been identified as Prashanth Shetty (28), a resident of Derlakatte.  He was a mini contractor by profession and hence a well-known person in the area.

He was on his way home back on Sunday evening when a speeding tipper racing from opposite direction rammed into his mobike.  As a result Prashanth fell on the road along with his mobike and sustained serious injuries. 

He was immediately admitted to a private hospital in the city.  However, he succumbed to injuries in the hospital on Sunday night.  Reports said that he had married only a few months ago and is survived by wife.

Konaje police have registered a case in this regard.
