Bangalore, Apr 2: The members of Secular Franciscan Order, Gangondanahalli near here, had a day of preparation to make their final vows on Sunday April 1 at Shanthi Sadhana (FISI) near Kengeri Satellite Town.

More than 100 members of the Secular Franciscan Order (SFO) took participated in it. The day began with an inspiring introductory talk on the life of St Francis of Assisi, the founder of SFO by Dr B S Talwadi.  He highlighted St Francis' love for nature and creation.

Fr Arthur Prashanth conducted the Way of the Cross to focus on the Lenten preparation.  In the afternoon Fr Marian Miranda, the provincial secretary of the Capuchins, led the members into the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

Dr Vincent Furtado, OFM Cap., the director of Shanthi Sadhana, officiated at the Holy Eucharist in which 36 members of the Secular Franciscans professed their Final Vows in the hands of Br James Saldanha, SFO, and the president of the Bangalore – Mysore zone of the Secular Franciscans.  Fr Arthur Prashanth Menezes prepared the members spiritually and officiated at the ceremony of Final Vows. 

Br Victor Crasta, OFM Cap., the spiritual assistant of SFO, congratulated all the newly-professed members of SFO and thanked all those who participated and helped to make the day a grand success. 

Br Balaswamy P, SFO, proposed the vote of thanks and compered the programme.
