Kundapur, Apr 3: Inaugurating the blood donation camp organized by the DYFI of Kundapur region principal of Chenna Poojary of Bhandarkar’s College said that the camp was a befitting programme in memory of the martyrdom of freedom fighters like Bhagath Sing, Rajguru and Sukhdev.

Their supreme sacrifice during the British Raj and their death at the gallows strengthened the freedom movement; he said adding that the sacrifice made never went in vain.

 

The camp was organized in collaboration with the District Hospital Blood Bank.

The medical officer of Government Hospital Dr Uday Kumar complimented the organizers for there best efforts to see that the blood bank at  the hospital would never fall short of blood needed during emergencies.

Dr Sharath Kumar of the Blood Bank, giving some useful tips on blood donation cautioned the public not to encourage professional blood donors.

Sudhakar Kanchan, the taluk president of DYFI presided over the function.

Dr Vijay Kumar, the anesthetist of the Government Hospital was the first to donate blood. Suresh Kallagar, the taluk secretary of the DYFI gave the introductory speech.

Shreekant Voderhobli, Ravi V M were present on the occasion. The camp was joined by members of several NGOs who donated blood voluntarily.
