Puttur, Apr 18: The traditional 'bedi' festival (fireworks) of Shree Mahalingeshwar Temple was held with pomp on Tuesday April 17 night.

Devotees thronged in thousands to participate in the fest and seek blessings from the deity on the festive night.

The traditional sacrifice was held on after the priests of Shree Ullalti-Dandanayaka arrived on a procession with dhanurbana, balu bhandara, chatra patake etc.

Attractive and splendid fireworks that attract people in big number were held on Tuesday night.  This year the number of devotees who witnessed this traditional celebration crossed even several hundred thousand, said organizers.

The car festival of Shree Mahalingeshwar Temple was held later.  Police had made elaborate security arrangements to avoid any unwanted situation.  There were 3 inspectors, 6 sub-inspectors and more than 100 head constables along with Home Guards, district Reserve Police and traffic warden who took adequate care of security.
