Mangalore, Apr 19: Kasturba Medical College Hospital Attavar will be organizing free acne (pimples) screening camp at the hospital premises on Thursday April 19 between 9am to 4pm.

This was announced in a press release by KMC here.  According to the press release acne is the disorder resulting from the action of hormones, skin’s oil glands and the hair foils.

Topical anti-acne agents like benzyl peroxide or retinols and topical antibiotics can be used to treat but they have side effect like skin irritation, burning or redness. Chemical peal uses a chemical solution to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin by removing its damaged outer layer.

Microdermabrasion is a new technology using aluminum oxide crystals under pressure to remove dead or damaged layers of the skin.

Microdermabrasion is now available at KMC hospital Attavar. More details could be availed by contacting Dr Maria Kuruvila, professor and HoD skin department of KMC Mangalore.
