Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady (SP)

Beltangady, Jun 18: Infectious diseases which have invaded the taluk since the last some weeks have attained alarming proportions. On Wednesday June 17, two children from the taluk, identified as Nauseena (9) from Malady and Dheeraj (30 months) from Kanyadi in Dharmasthala village died of mysterious fever.

Nauseena was a fourth standard student of Malady government higher primary school. She was the daughter of Ibrahim, a resident of Maladipalke. She breathed her last at a private hospital in Mangaluru, after suffering from fever for a week. She was treated initially in a local hospital before being shifted to Mangaluru, and her death is suspected to have been caused by dengue, which has carved out firm foothold in the Malnad regions of the district.

Dheeraj, 30-month-old son of Chennappa Gowda from Kanyadi Posoklu in Dharmasthala passed away at the government Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru. Dheeraj started suffering from fever and dysentery since June 15. He was treated in local hospital before being admitted at Mangaluru. But the child could not be saved.

With this, three lives from the taluk of have been lost to fever during the last two days. Causes of death in all these cases are yet to be confirmed, although suspected dengue appears to have played a role in at least two of these cases.

    Khadar Bhai,
Do something before the situation goes out of control.

We blame you for not taking adequate steps to prevent Dengue in the district. No fogging, no other means of controlling growth of mosquitoes.
By the way have you asked the doctors to check if the fever is because of dengue or any other types? Monsoon has just begun, Malaria is yet to show its vigor.
