Mangalore, May 27: Primary education needs a strong dose of quality upgradation, said M Madan Gopal, commissioner for public instruction here on Saturday May 26.

He was speaking at the inaugural function of the human resource facilitator’s annual conference of the College for Leadership and Human Resource Development (CLHRD). Gopal said that it was not infrastructure but quality input in the classroom that needed insistent attention.

"Universal admittance, retention and quality that are required to be introduced in primary education in the State and all the levels of education are linked with primary, high school, tertiary and university," said Madan. He added, "There is a need to have an incorporated approach to education because none of these areas are mutually exclusive, but to achieve this, we need dedicated and committed individuals."

Gopal specified that the management development programme (MDP) of the department of primary education, which has been organized to guide education administrators  so as to prepare them in skill of facilitation on human resource development. And the training was conducted by CLHRD.

Prof  Cyriac  Thomas, former vice- chancellor M G University, Kottayam, Prof B G Mulimani, Vice chancellor Gulbarga University, Prof M I Savadatti, former vice-chancellor of Mangalore University, Prof K V Kodandaramaiah, director, collegiate education and Prof K Siddappa, former vice chancellor Bangalore University, were also present at the conference.
