Sullia, May 31: With the shock of the Muloor accident near Udupi still fresh in the mind of the public, a report from Narnakaje near here is likely to alarm many right-thinking citizens. In a maxi cab with seating capacity of 13, a total of 42 passengers were travelling at the time of mishap.

In the latest referred case, a passenger van plying from Guttigar to Sullia went out of control of its driver on a minor bridge and rolled over into a gorge. The passengers were made of visitors to downtown on daily routine, parents seeking admission for their children in schools, those visiting relatives and many others. In all, over 50 were said to have been travelling in the van.

Reports said that 49 persons were injured. Out of them an infant has a severe injury in its leg. One Sundar Elimale was severely injured in the head. A woman passenger lost a gold pendant from her ear.

The question of overloading in the suburban transport system as well insurance problems in case of accidents is being widely discussed among the public in the wake of happenings of this kind.
