Udupi, May 31: Three persons including a woman, claiming to be income tax officials, 'raided' a jeweller's house at Perdoor on Wednesday afternoon and fleeced him of Rs 50,000 and a kilogramme of gold.

The gang suddenly landed at the residence of Bhaskar Acharya, owner of Deepa Jewellers in Perdoor, and demanded bribe with a threat of penal action.

Acharya had to make a settlement and went to be bank to withdraw cash. He paid Rs 50,000 and also handed over a kilogramme of gold, after which the 'income tax team' coolly left the place.

Later getting suspicious, Acharya filed a complaint with Hiriadka police station.
