Mumbai, Aug 1: “Our thoughts are pro people and we are struggling to make our voice reach the government in order to bring about suitable changes in the system. This is a service oriented association for the common man. We should recognize the fruits of the sacrifices of former railway minister George Fernandes and try to make them reach the future generation. Our aim is also to make the dream of George Fernandes a reality,” said Shimanthooru Udaya Shetty.

He was speaking after presiding over the meeting of the Railway Yatri Sangha Borivli Mumbai (west zone) held at Hotel Link view of Jairajnagara at Borivli west on the morning of Saturday Aug 1.

At the meeting led by founder president Virar Shanker B Shetty, advisor Ermal Harish Shetty and honorary chief secretary Sheela Shetty were on the dais. They honored meeting organizer Ermal Harish with a
flower bouquet.

“We encourage organizing ability. The Minister of Railways Suresh Shetty should get the one way trips of Konkan Railway changed to two way trips. The department of railways should prepare a project in this
regard and respond to the need of travelers. The cooperation of MP Gopal C Shetty has strengthened our resolve and the Sangha is working on his guidance. We are trying to conduct it through public awareness”,
said Shimanthooru Udaya Shetty.

Virar Shanker Shetty said that their aim will be fulfilled if all the train travelers join to make the dream of George Fernandes a reality. 

“The Sangha is holding meetings in different places in order to know the problems of travelers. Meetings are inspiring. The audience strengthen the solution. Problems can be solved with help from the people. Struggle supported by people brings about quick result.

So our struggle will be successful when every citizen supports and encourages us,” he said.

Sangha secretary Oliver D' souza explained in detail why we need Konkan Railway on western zone, the problems of the train service, the solutions for them and alternative arrangements.

Sangha vice president Premanath Kotian, joint secretary Rajith Suvarna, advisor Harish N Shetty Malad, Vasu Puthran, Anil Kumar Salian, Jayarama Shetty and others spoke about their experiences on train
travel, gave opinions and suggestions. Raviraj Kalyanpur and others were present. Sheela Shetty proposed the vote of thanks.
