Mumbai, Jun 30: The city of Mumbai witnessed the vibrant colours of Thailand at the ‘Thai Night’ organized by the Royal Thai Embassy at the Taj President Hotel. The evening was part of the Indo-Thai FTA roadshow to India, a project initiated by the Embassy and supported by the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Mumbai.

The roadshow began with a seminar held during the day in collaboration with CII to maximize the benefit from the Free Trade Agreement between India and Thailand and followed by Thai Night reception. Besides being a perfect platform for informal interaction among eminent personalities from Mumbai and Bangkok business circles, the Thai Night also offered a series of splendid cultural performances along with a DVD presentation by the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

The programme was presided over by Sawanit Kongsiri, deputy foreign minister of Thailand. A host of dignitaries from public and private sectors from both India and Thailand including renowned filmmaker V Shantaram were also present. It aimed at promoting relationship between the two countries by means of strengthening of trade and investment relations.

Thai Night was filled with mesmerizing performances by the talented Thai dance troupe.  To further lend the Thai ambience for the evening, guests were treated to an array of authentic Thai food prepared by Thai chefs from Suan Dusit International Culinary School. 

Speaking on the occasion, Sawanit Kongsiri, 'We must ensure free and fair trade. In the meantime, we must redouble our efforts in getting to know and understand each other to expand business ties and realize opportunities.'

‘Thai Night’ was organized by the Royal Thai Embassy to serve as a platform for social and cultural exchanges between the two countries and an opportunity for Thai and Indian businessmen to interact informally.
