Mangalore, Jul 17: An inter-district football tournament will be held at Nehru Maidan here from Saturday August 4 to Wednesday August 15, said Dakshina Kannada District Football Association president D M Aslam here.
He was speaking at a press conference here on Monday July 16. Teams from higher primary schools, high schools and P U colleges can take part in the tournament, according to a press release.
He further said that over a hundred teams from three districts are expected to take part in the tournament, the 11th annual event being held in succession. This year the prize amount to the winning team would be Rs 11,000 beside the trophy, he added.
The finals of all the divisions will be played on Wednesday, August 15. A valedictory will also be held on the same day and prizes will be given away. The state sports minister is expected to be present in the programme.
Association secretary Mohammad Hussein was present at the press conference.
