Mangalore, Jul 18: The preparatory meeting to plan for celebrating Konkani Recognition Day will be held at the office of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, here on Sunday July 22.  This year's celebration will also include the 60th Independence Day celebration and commencing of teaching of Konkani in schools from the current scholastic year.

The Karnataka Konkani Sahithya Academy has been organizing one mega program in this year as in the past two years, in association with all Konkani organizations.  Since August 20 comes on Monday, a day-long mega event will be held at Ganapathy High School premises on Sunday August 19, as stated in their press release.

Moreover, one such preliminary meeting has been already held on June 17 in this regard.  Besides, organizing committee formed during the meeting has already begun its task.  Accordingly, president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy has urged, all the Konkani organizations, folklore groups throughout Karnataka to take part in the day-long programme in large numbers.
