The trend of fast food is fast pervading our society, and making our food habit. Not only do youngsters cherish it, they sometimes make it their full time meals. Not only is such food costly, but it is unhealthy too, gives rise to unnecessary weight gain and sends the clean, hygenic and home made food habit for a toss.

Moreever, the Indian eateries are losing out in the long run. India has a tradition of healthy and tasty delicacies, which has begun to be recognised in the west. Let that prevail in India before the west consumes it.

At last wisdom has prevailed through the wise comment of Mr. Nelson Lewis. Do not decide on your eating habits based on the country or company that produces it. It is pure and simple. Avoid junk food and stay healthy.

I wish to tell you that any fast food, fizzy drinks and any stuff fried in oil is very, very bad for health. Having these foods once in a while is okay. But eating junk food every week or regularly is very, very bad and the consequences can be disastrous.

One should eat plenty of fruits, juices, vegetables, etc. I am sorry that many Indians having money are falling susceptible to fast food. This is a very, very dangerous trend.

I  am happy so many different food outlets are being introduced in Mangalore, now the customer is really king,he can choose what he wants to eat, those outlets which cannot cater to the Mangalorean palate, will die a natural death.

Fast food, now Mangaloreans have an opportunity to try out the "FAST" type belly fillers. Yes, belly fillers. Eaten by mostly the "poor" in the West. Are these good for health, that someone should ask for themselves. They say they are fresh, how they can be fresh? Particularly the cold meats.

Westerners shy away from these foods and now the easterners on the verge of embracing it. My humble opinion, Stay away from these fast foods. Slow foods which we enjoyed always such as idli sambar are good for you. Live healthy and say "no" to junk food.

Let Mangaloreans who have decided to live in Mangalore decide, what they should eat. Americans should first close down their fast food joints before giving advice to Indians. This is another case of “don’t do as I do, do as I say”. “If I don’t want it, nobody should have it”.

Shame on these Mangaloreans who introduced Subway sandwich franchise to Mangalore. We have wonderful Indian delicacies of various tastes. I do not understand why we have to promote this Western eatery in India!

This is Good. But Vegetarians beware. None of the American chains know anything about vegetarianism and many of the Indian proprietors are have least regard even though they know what it is.

So it is always better to ask before ordering. It is best to avoid such restaurants though as some workers if not owners may be trying to get secret pleasure by adding meat to vegetarian stuff.
