Congratulations to the Principal & students /staff of Beasant Girls college that you showed to the government officials how to educate and bring awareness among the public to keep mangalore clean. They suppose to conduct such rallies but you all did.

Hope other educational institutions will persuade municipal officials to shift collected garbage on time and keep Mangalore neat tidy and healthy. This way youth and young generation can work to erradicate corruption as well.

I am very proud to see the women from Besant women's college coming forward to stop the littering and promote the healthy living styles. Though we boast that we are very forward in technology, it is a shame that our basic necessities of life is still neglected. It is devastating to see the pathetic road conditions and the litter all over the city.

We can slowly eradicate this problem by stopping the recruitment of corrupted leaders and promoting to recruit the educated women who have good leadership qualities. We will see the difference if the leadership qualities are equally shared by men and women in a democratic country like India! Keep up the good work Manjula, the principal of Besant women's college and all the staffs and students.

One of the finest piece of news compared to other stories of crime, loot, plunder and atrocities that feature in our country's media. All credit to the Besant Students and the other supporting organisations who showed what a good set of students can do to help the society. If only all other college students follow the lead given by Besant Students our society will not only be a healthier place to live but also a safe and sound haven for the young and old. In fact, the top College leaders should get together and allocate every college some kind of social duty and responsibility which will also indirectly help the city's officials.

At this point, I am forced to remember one of the finest events organised some 12 years ago by Mangalore's LINKS ANTI ADDICTION GROUP where the students of the entire South Kanara District (covering all colleges in the District) from all over the place converged to the Nehru Maidan in a beautiful march with an appropriate gathering to emphasise the evils of drugs and related habits. It was a very satisfying event that showed the strength and spirit of the college students with all the good thinking boys and girls coming to Mangalore from as far as Ujire, Udipi, Puttur and so many other far off places. If similar activities are held regularly with the students involved, our people will be assured of peaceful living for all times to come. Once again, congrats to the Besant Students.

It is heartening to know that students from Beasant College have organized a rally to promote cleanliness awareness in Mangalore, but I don’t think this rally will have an impact unless there is stringent penalty for the offenders.

THIS IS VERY GOOD MOVE BY THE STUDENTS OF BESANT COLLEGE. MAY BE THIS CAN BE DONE BY OTHER COLLEGE STUDENTS AS WELL.

MAINLY THE MUNICIPALITY SHOULD TAKE PROPER ACTION THROUGH LEGALY INITIATING THE PUBLIC REGARDING CLEANLINESS. WHEN WE ARE STAYING IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY HAVING SEVERAL NATIONALITIES RESIDING TOGETHER WITH DIFFERENT HABITS AND CULTURES, STILL THE CITIES WERE MAINTAINED WITH UTMOST LEVEL OF CLEANLINESS, BASICALLY BECAUSE OF THE STRICT LAW AND ORDER SITUATION. FOR EXAMPLE IN THE SAUDI CAPITAL IN RIYADH, THE PERSON WILL BE FINED EVEN IF HE THROW A PEPSI BOTTLE IN PUBLIC PLACE.

MAY BE THIS RULE WILL COME IN MANGALORE AFTER 3 OR 4 DECADES. MANGALORE IS THE BIRTH PLACE FOR THE MANY PRESTIGIOUS MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS WHERE PEOPLE COME FROM DIFFERENT PLACES OF THE COUNTRY TO CURE THEIR DECEASES. AND IT IS ASHAMED TO HEAR THAT MANGALORE CAN'T ERADICATE CONTAGIOUS DECEASE LIKE MALARIA AND CHOLERA.

Just carrying placards and banners do not help and by doing this we cannot change the world. This has to be practiced and implemented by each and every citizen then only we can maintain cleanliness. I wonder how many people who participated in this Jatha are maintaining waste management in thier own surroundings.
