Dubai, Sep 24:
St Mary's Konkani Community is set to celebrate its glorious seventh anniversary in style on October 25, 2007 in Al Bustan Rotana Hotel, Dubai.

As it has been every year, SMKC strives to bring something innovative every time in order to raise charity funds through entertainment for the needy community members back home as well as in other parts of the world. As for this year, SMKC has already announced a Dine 'n' Dance event.

CASCADES band from Goa

The event has been christened REWIND - '07 - '70, which means that the best of numbers from year 1970 to 2007 will be rendered during the evening to entertain the crowd at its fullest.

Noel Mascarenhas, founder of SMKC, who is also a successful coordinator since its inception in 2001, gives higher priority to the charity aspect of the shows. "Every year, we raise a good amount of dirhams to help our needy brothers and sisters in the UAE as well as in other parts of the world. Our priority is to uplift the poorest of the poor in every field. However, we would like to concentrate more on the education field," said Noel to daijiworld.

"While we keep organizing this kind of entertainment purely for the purpose of raising funds, we will leave no stone unturned to provide quality and top-class entertainment to those who come to watch the shows. This year we have opted for something from the western side. This does not mean that the event is meant for only a particular class people, though. For those to whom this event does not appeal, very soon we are going to arrange another event just for entertainment's sake," he says further.

According to Noel Mascarenhas, the SMKC has more projects for the needy people and they would be announced in the near future.

"The SMKC is running so smoothly under the blessings and direction of Fr Freddy D`Souza, assistant parish priest of St Mary's Church, Dubai, who is also the spiritual director of SMKC. We have a wonderful, dedicated team to rise to any occasion, and with the support of everyone, we expect Rewind '70 - '70 to be a successful event," he said in conclusion.

Invitations for the events are already available with the members. A large number of sponsors have already pledged their support to the success of this event.

Seamark Shipping LLC will be the main sponsors.
