Puttur: High court stays order banning Bajrang Dal activist from three taluks

Puttur, Mar 12: The high court has stayed an order to extern (banish) a Bajrang Dal activist from three taluks of the district.

The assistant commissioner of Puttur sub-division K V Rajendra had issued an order to extern Bajrang Dal local Go Rakshak Pramukh Dhanya Kumar from Beltangady, Puttur and Sullia. As per the order, Dhanya Kumar, a resident of Kadaba, was prohibited from entering these taluks.

Dhanya then challenged the order in the Karnataka high court, which, on Friday March 11 stayed the ban order.

Speaking to daijiworld, Bajrang Dal leader Muralikrishna Hasantadka said, "The high court stayed the order yesterday. He will now file an appeal to vacate the order. There is no strong ground for banning him from three taluks."

It is learnt that the Puttur assistant commissioner had passed the order to extern Dhanya as he is involved in several cases of immoral rowdyism attacks on couples belonging to different communities, and acts disrupting peace and harmony in the region. He was also involved in forcibly stopping the screening of Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Dilwale' in Puttur, sources said.

SP Sharanappa said that the district police was yet to receive a copy of the high court order, and further course of action would be decided later. He also informed that Dhanya in accused in three cases of rioting.
