Mangaluru: DC's name in temple invitation has hurt Hindu sentiments: VHP

Mangaluru, Mar 21: In the wake of controversy over the inclusion of deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim's name in the invitation of Puttur Lord Mahalingeshwara Temple's car festival to be held on March 30, the district unit of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Monday March 21 said that the move had hurt the sentiments of Hindus and warned that if the DC's name was not removed from the invitation within two days, a severe protest would be held.

Addressing a press meet here, VHP district working president Jagadish Shenava said, "First of all, printing the name of a non-Hindu in a temple invitation is a violation of the section 7 of the Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Act, 1997. This has hurt the sentiments of Hindus. The officer (A B Ibrahim) who should protect the law and order in the district is himself terming the opposition to this violation as an act of intolerance.

"The Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Act, 1997 clearly says that non-Hindus cannot perform religious rituals in a Hindu temple, even if that person is the DC, ADC or an ordinary servant. Ironically, a non-Hindu is inviting Hindus for a Hindu temple programme. When we (VHP) go according to the law, it is termed as intolerance. This is violation of the law by the DC," he asserted.

"DC Ibrahim has done several things that have hurt the sentiments of Hindus. In some of the media it is reported that he would take voluntary retirement and join Congress," he claimed.

"His name was also included in the invitation of Kukke Subramanya Temple. That also was a violation of the law. A mistake can happen once, but it should not be allowed to repeat.

"If the DC is so tolerant, why did he not withdraw his name from invitation instead of allowing all this chaos?" Shenava questioned.

"VHP and Bajrang Dal strongly condemn the interference of non-Hindus in Hindu religious affairs. Within two days new invitation should be printed and distributed to the devotees, if not, we will hold a strong protest. If this is not opposed now, such interference of non-Hindus will continue in future in all temples," he said.

When asked if the VHP would accept if the DC were to conduct rituals in the Puttur temple, he said, "Out of our large-heartedness, we will accept it, but legally it is wrong."

Manohar, Punith, Nagesh and others were present.

This is news. This is called dirty politics. I don't think Hinduism differentiate any religion. According to history, Hinduism accepts people from All faiths. It's the people who make this difference. We should allow the respected DC to attend any function which he is invited for, as he is purely a public servant and as a human being which is above all religions. In our growing up years we had friends from all religion and we used to visit each others religious places. I don't think God has made the rule non-hindu's should not enter the temple. We humans created a lof difference within the religion like oh he is a SC, or ST so he is not supposed to enter the religions place. Simply crap story guys. In the eyes of God we are all human beings. Jai Hind.

If one knows or not why ganeshotsava is celebrated ?
In those British days, British didn't allow mass gathering as they thought it might make way for freedom struggle. So balganghadhar Tilak and other freedom fighters decided to celebrate a day as Ganeshotsava. Even today to celebrate ganeshotsava we call guests as one Hindu, one Christian and one Muslim to be on the stage for a cultural program. This festival was not started by shiva or parvati but it was started by Balganghadhar tilak and other freedom fighters including muslims and christians so that people gather in masses and lead to freedom struggle.
How these VHP and RSS and have forgotten just 100 years old tradition ? I think one should know celebration of Ganeshotsava ? why is it celebrated and what for ?
or one can take the case of bappandu temple itself without muslim people pooja shall not take place.
What is RSS /VHP trying to get out of it ?
They know that they have a strong base in Mangalore ? they want to make it stronger ??
It is said that mangaloreans are well educated and good human beings but in this regard where has it gone ?especially in the recent years.

The Hindu Religion which I had experienced from my classmates, neighbours, in our own Tulu community is brotherhood, peace, harmony. In my high school days, I had visited temples without fear.

The VHP Hinduism, as per VHP district working president Jagadish Shenava is we do not like non Hindus and if they enter temples, we will protest.

Stop this attitude which will give wrong signals to the world about Hinduism. We all like and love Hindus, as most of them are nice people.

This is called Communal/Religious intolerance by VHP. We all know that God created humans and humans still fight over God’s own creations in the name of different religions made by man. Religious fundamentalism is deep-rooted. They will divide India once again if such ideology persist or continues.
VHP is an Indian right-wing Hindu nationalist organization based on the ideology of Hindutva and they do not represent the entire Hindus or their ideology within India.
If they go beyond limit please request the PM to help.

VHP forget to follow what Hindu scripture says- Atithi Devo Bhav - The guest is equivalent to God' or 'Be one for whom the guest is God' is a Sanskrit verse, taken from an ancient Hindu scripture which became part of the "code of conduct" for Hindu society. Atithi Devo Bhav regards a procedure of the host-guest relationship.

Muslims also participate in the temple festivals.answer this question first then you can remove the name of DC from Invitation card. before removing the name Our D.K Hindu families should take decision. because temple belongs all Hindus not only VHP & BD. this is showing intolerance in our Dist. now is the correct time Our beloved Hindu Brother & Sister stand against intolerance.

My dear district working president Jagadish Shenava VHP,
honourable DC Ibrahim is inviting the public including the Hindus for Lord Mahalingeshwara Temple's car festival and he is not performing Puja a religious ritual. Why should you make a noise about it rather you have been proud to show that you are real Desh Bhakths rising above the petty biased religious fundamentalism. Here is a golden opportunity to really show to all the citizens of India and the people at large all over the world how secular minded you are. Instead you are making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Why not do something to eradicate all these evils. Why are you poisoning the minds of Indians who are living peacefully? Do something which will earn you a place in people's hearts. Some other day they said, all Indians are "Hindus" there is unity among Indians.
Then why this ban? How did it hurt sentiments?
In sharp contrast, few days back in Tamil Nadu, a Dalit Engineering student was brutally killed for marrying a upper caste Hindu.
No action is taken yet on perpetrators.

Who has hurt what??. We will get to know sooner. There is no point in fighting in the name of Hindu or a Non-Hindu??. At last, we all are human beings. Almighty has given us brain to use it for our well being, not to fight with each other.
In this case, if law is not followed, the courts will decide what to do. If we take law in your hands, it's the common man who suffers.
So it's better to have a meeting of all eminent people from all religious institutions, law makers, concerned officers, presided by DC and come to amicable solution. We need Peace, Harmony & Prosperity in between all communities. We don't want Bandh, Stikes, Lati Charges, etc..
