Mangalore, Oct 3: Vanitha Seva Samaja (Vanitha Social Service Society) and Yuvathi Mandala will jointly celebrate the silver jubilee celebration of Sharadha Puja (worship of Goddesses Saraswathi) during 'Navratri', informed Pushpa M S Rao, cultural secretary of the Vanitha Seva Samaja here at the press club on Wednesday October. 3. 

This year-long programme which began in January 2007 will finally culminate with Sharadha puja and Shree Chandiaka Yagna which is scheduled to be held on October 17, the secretary informed further. 

Moreover, on the occasion a district-level 'goodu deepa' (traditional lamp prepared during Diwali) competition will be organized on October 16 and October 17, the winner of this competition would be decided on the basis of the marks awarded during the days of the competition held. The winner will be awarded a sum of Rs 1000 and the runner up would get Rs 750 and second runner up will be awarded Rs 500,informed the secretary to media persons. 

Umavathi PK Honnaih, honorary secretary, Silver Jubilee Celebration Committee, Madavi Upadyaya, president, Vanitha Service Society, Shoba Shenoy and Vishalakshi were present at the press conference.
