Puttur, Oct 5:
A Pangolin, locally known as 'chippu handi' which was found in the farm of one Dr Bhat was handed over to Sheshavana, Puttur Wildlife Research and Rehabilitation Centre, by locals of Guttigaru village in Sulia taluk on Wednesday October 3, for further care and medication as it had a dog bite on its back.

The endangered animal came to the farm of Dr GT Bhat in the early hours on Wednesday October 3. Locals handed over the animal to Vana thinking that pangolin would recover soon as well as it would get proper care and protection.

Dr Ravindra Aithal who has been treating the animal in Sheshavana regretted that the rarely sighted animal is an endangered animal, as man left no chance to hunt it, because it is known for its delicious meat.

He treated the animal with utmost care and did not allow any one including officials from forest department to see the animal as it needed complete rest.

Speaking to the media persons regarding further actions, Aithal said he will do his best to ensure that it gets the best care. He also said that he would return it to its natural habitat at the earliest.
