Mumbai, Apr 11: Konkani Catholic Welfare Association Bhayandar west, celebrated its 8th annual function on Sunday March 27 at Our Lady of Nazareth School Quadrangle, Bhayandar west. A social and comedy Konkani drama ‘Nirmellim Chukana' was staged.












The programme commenced at 7 pm with the felicitation of the distinguished guests with bouquets of flowers and shawls by George Sequeira, president of the association. The guests present were Joseph D’Souza, Borivali - writer, William Machado, Borivali - director of the drama, comedy king Francis Fernandes, Cascia and Sukumar Kanchan (sponsors). The drama team also felicitated George Sequeira for his efforts to stage the drama. George Sequeira in his speech requested the audience to encourage the association by supporting them to hold such Konkani programmes and to encourage their children to speak Konkani at home to keep alive the Konkani language. Cyril Monis, Pangla, Borivali compered the function beautifully. The audience enjoyed the drama and expressed their appreciation which they showered on the actors.

The audience said that after a long time they saw a Konkani drama in Bhayandar. All actors had done a good job. Actors were: George Sequeira, Bhayandar, Helan Noronha, Mira Road, Ronald D’Costa, Vasai, Bibina Lobo, Borivali, Romeo Lobo, Borivali, Ida Pereira, Bhayandar, Felix D’Souza, Malvani, Julinan D’Souza, Bhayandar, Henry D’Souza and Cyril D’Souza.
