Ravi Shastri resigns from ICC post

New Delhi, Jul 1 (PTI): Former India captain and Team Director Ravi Shastri has resigned from his post as media representative in ICC's prestigious Cricket Committee.

Incidentally, the chairman of ICC Cricket Committee is current Team India coach Anil Kumble, who pipped Shastri to the job after getting nod from high profile Cricket Advisory Committee.

"I have already submitted my resignation. There are personal commitments and I have been there for six years," Shastri told PTI today without further elaborating anything.

The official reason is his busy media commitments as commentator, TV expert and columnist, but there is intense speculation that the former all-rounder may have resigned as he is yet to come to terms with rejection that led to a widely publicised spat with Cricket Advisory Committee member Sourav Ganguly.

"Just like Sourav, Ravi is also an emotional man at one level. He is yet to come to terms with rejection. Since he became a media representative as BCCI nominee, probably, he is not willing to continue in that post. Also with Kumble expressing his opinion to continue as chairman, it might just be uncomfortable for both of them to sit in a meeting," a BCCI source told PTI today.

"Also media representative is more of a decorative post in ICC Cricket Committee."A few days back when Anil Kumble was named the chief coach, Shastri said that one of the Committee members Ganguly was not present when his interview was being conducted.

Shastri had termed Ganguly's absence "disrespectful" to which the left-hand batsman retorted saying that the Mumbaikar was "living in fool's world".

"If Ravi was so serious about the job, he should have been in Kolkata for interview rather than appearing through Skype while holidaying in Bangkok," Ganguly had said.

can Kumble considered as good coach? He has no good experience in management. He was a world famous spin bowler. No experience in management,No Experience in Batting,No Experience in fast Bowling and not a famous fielder .Ofcourse lots of experience on field but not good enough to be coach.Rahul Dravid Was definitely a good choice(coach of junior team & Likable person) or Sandip Patil(Excoach,Batsman, bowler,Fielder) or Lal Chand Rajpooth(Asst Coach since long) . Interviwing Comitee although had honest members but cannot be considered as 100% neutral.

Why Cant BICC Say what really happened? One guy says Skype interview and other guy says real interview and so on. Who is saying the truth? I heard Ganguly was not present while interviewing and then skyke was arranged. If what I hear is true then ganuly wrong. If Shastri was not present then Shastri is wrong. BICC Should have appointed completely Neutral Comitee while interviewing.Only Laxman was a neutral choice here. Sachin is Mumbaikar and Ganguly is controversial figure. Overall whole thing is controversial.

Please think before making Comments about Saurav Ganguly, See his Achievements in Indian Cricket. What did Ravi Shastri do - He was always a Selfish Player, got into the Indian Cricket Team through Gavaskar's influence and also being a Bombay Player. Got enough opportunities to guide the Indian Team. But his bloated ego and brought him down. First of all he was intervieve Via Skype from Bangkok and then he criticises Ganguly for not being present. If he was so serious he should have cancelled his Holiday and flew back to Kolkata for the interview and proved his commitment. Its like people living in Glass HOuse should ot throw stones !!!

Shastri proved himself how respected gentleman he is! Not like Ganguli, he didn't spare dalmiya, Chappell kind of greats as well. He should control his tongue before he talk.
