SFX Friends Udyavar distributes scholarships to students

Udupi, Jul 8: Under the direction of SFX Friends Udyavar scholarships were distributed to students pursuing primary, high school, PUC, degree, diploma and nursing courses on Wednesday July 6 at the church hall at Udyavar.






Around Rs 70,000 was distributed to 35 students, belonging to four local churches. A businessman Ronald Manohar Karkada sponsored the scholarship amount.

Admiring Karkada’s service, chief guest Fr Roque D’Souza said, "Karkada has been carrying out this noble work, since many years and has helped poor families with medical treatment. He has also provided Bibles to those who do not have any. I feel very happy to have such a kind-hearted donor in our midst."

Ronald praising Fr Roque said, "We have been blessed with a good and active parish priest. He supports all social services and God has also blessed me to serve society. I am sharing a small portion of my income."

He advised the students to put in hard work and to be studious. He encouraged them to take care of their parents and to help other deprived people once they get a job.

Ronald Manohar Karkada has engaged himself in social service since two years. He extended a helping hand to 114 families in 2014, which has covered 20 churches and 140 families in 2015. He has provided necessary food grain through the respective parish priests of the various churches to celebrate Christmas including cakes, Kuswar.

The churches who have beneftted from his good deeds are Our Lady of Fathima church Perampalli, Holy Cross Church Pamboor, St Francis Church and United Basel Mission Church Udyavar.

Scholarships were distributed at the training programme organized for ICYM Udyavar.

Loyal D'Souza, president, ICYM, Udupi diocese, Saharan Lobo, president, ICYM Udyavar, Wilfred D'Souza, former president, Sauharda Samiti, Udyavar and Deeksha Karkada were present.
