MLA Sorake distributes compensation to storm victims

Udupi, Jul 9: MLA Vinaya Kumar Sorake distributed cheques to storm affected families at Community hall, Hiriyadka on Saturday July 9.










He distributed cheques worth Rs 36.25 lac to 141 beneficiaries who incurred loss. 47 families from Bommarabettu, 45 families from Perdur and 49 families from Bellampady were the recipients of the cheques. They had lost their property due to heavy storm on July 1. Of these, 33 homes were completely damaged and 108 homes partially damaged.

Sorake addressing the gathering said, "I have given 1 week's time for the forest, revenue, horticultural departments to collect information and compensate the storm affected families."

He recalled the day they distributed Rs 10 lac to purchase necessary material. They had provided 10 loads of tiles, cement and roofing sheets."

He assured the people that he will provide houses for 52 families under Basava Vasati Yojana and that he will urge chief minister Siddaramaiah to release additional funds from CM relief fund."

"In the past, beneficiaries used to get their amount late, but this time I have taken special care to release the funds immediately funds," explained Sorake.

Tahsildar Guruprasad, special tahsildar Thippeswamy, Chandrika, member, zilla panchayat, Malathi Acharya, president, grama panchayat, Laxminarayan Prabhu, member, taluk panchayat, Shantaram Suda were present on the occasion.
