Governor gives permission to prosecute former Lokayukta Rao

Bengaluru, Jul 13: It is reliably learnt from the department of personnel and administrative reforms that the state governor, Vajubhai Vala, had given his approval for the proposed move to investigate former Lokayukta, Justice Bhaskar Rao, through the special investigating team.

The governor's letter of approval has reached the above department. In all likelihood, this letter would be forwarded to the special task force on Wednesday.

It is gathered that prior approval of the governor had become necessary to investigate the role of the former Lokayukta as he had functioned as chief justice of high court in the past.

The special investigation team proposes to question Justice Rao and then file additional charge sheet, it is gathered. In the earlier five charge sheets filed by the team in the court, former Lokayukta's son, Ashwin, has been named as main accused and Justice Rao has been proposed as witness.
