Mangaluru, Sep 8: B H V Prasad, former executive director (projects) of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), has assumed charge as managing director of ONGC Petro additions Limited (OPaL).
Prasad brings with him over three decades of experience in the energy sector. He joined MRPL in 1993 and held several key leadership positions across projects, marketing, human resources, corporate strategy and other functions before superannuating as executive director (projects) on May 31.

A mechanical engineer with an M Tech from Manipal Institute of Technology, Prasad was associated with several major growth and infrastructure initiatives of MRPL, including refinery expansion and upgradation, project execution and development of strategic infrastructure.
In his new role, he will lead OPaL, a major integrated petrochemical company of the ONGC Group, based at Dahej, Gujarat.
A native of Mulki in Coastal Karnataka, Prasad is the son of the late Dr B H Somashekar Rao, a well-known family physician, and the grandson of renowned Ayurveda practitioner Late Pandit Vasudevayya (Vasudev Bhat). He is also the brother of noted orthopedic surgeon Dr Prashanth Mohan.
Prasad’s elevation as managing director of an important ONGC Group company is a matter of pride for Coastal Karnataka and the Tulu Nadu region.
