Udupi: Man from Kokkarne hangs himself in city lodge

Udupi, Jul 22: A man ended his life by hanging himself in a lodge in the city on Thursday July 21 morning. The deceased has been identified as Nityananda Shetty (60), a resident of Kokkarne.

Shetty had rented a room in the said lodge on Monday July 18. On Thursday morning, the lodge employees who visited his room to deliver hot water found that the door was bolted from inside, and Shetty did not open the door after repeated knocks. They peeped through the window and realized that Shetty had made a noose out of nylon rope and hanged himself from the ceiling fan inside his room.

The police were informed about the incident. The police personnel visited the spot, conducted investigations, arranged for post mortem and registered a case.
