Kundapur: Bail granted to man who assaulted and injured woman

Kundapur, Jul 24: The court here has granted bail to a person who is facing charges of attacking, injuring, and posing life threat to a woman. 

A fight had broken out between Srinivas Ganiga from Hilkodu in Neralakatte in the taluk and Babi Ganiga on December 19, 2015, at around  11 am in connection with cutting don branches of a tree near her home. In a fit of anger, the accused reportedly had hit hard Babi's right leg with a wooden stick, as a result of which she had collapsed to the ground.

Srinivas had walked away from the spot after warning her that he would kill her. Babi Ganiga was admitted into a private hospital in the town. On the basis of complaint filed with them, the local police had registered a case and filed charge sheet in the court. The accused has now been released by the court on bail. Advocate from the town, Handakunda Ashok Shetty, had argued the case in the court on behalf of the accused.
