Mangaluru, Sep 7: Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) Suratkal unit had organized a road blockade at Kana Junction for one hour on Tuesday September 6, demanding repair and renovation of the four km long road between Suratkal and Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL).

State president of DYFI, Muneer Katipalla, addressing the protestors, noted that this road has been rendered very bad on account of movement of heavy vehicles belonging to industries like MRPL, HPCL, BPCL etc. Although the condition of this road is very bad, and protests have been held many a time since the last two years seeking restoration of this road, city corporation and local MLA are keeping aloof. The road should be taken up for repair immediately, Muneer demanded.

Because of this protest, a large number of heavy vehicles of various companies lined up for several kilometres on both sides of the spot. Leaders of DYFI like Imtiyaz, Srinath Katipalla, local leaders, Naveen Poojary, Mehboob Kana, Farooq and others led the protest.
