Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Sep 27: "Most of the complaints received by Karnataka State Human Rights Commission (KSHRC) pertain to police atrocities. 60 percent of complaints from Bengaluru city and nearly 50 percent from districts are about this menace," revealed member of Karnataka State Human Rights Commission (KSHRC), Justice C G Hungund.

He was speaking a workshop on human rights awareness held at Raveendra Kalabhavan of the university college here on Monday September 26. The programme was organized jointly by Human Rights Central Committee, Human Rights Association of university college, Humanities Association, and Women's Forum.

Justice Hungund hastened to add that just because police atrocity complaints are more in number, it would not e prudent to jump to the conclusion that police atrocities had occurred in all the cases. He stated that there is possibility of filing fake complaints.

"At the district level, deputy commissioners and district superintendents of police have been nominated as nodal officers of KSHRC for protection of human rights. Whenever there are human right violations, complaints can me made to these officers. If the complaints of the aggrieved are not addressed by them, complaints can be directly made to the commission," he pointed out.

Principal of the college, Dr Uday Kumar, presided. Member of university syndicate, Ashok Rai, advocate, Dinesh Hegde Ulepady, Human Rights Central Committee president, Kolladi Balakrishna Rai and chief executive officer, Shivarju B Aiyar, vice president of women's forum, Dr Gayatri, and others were present.

How will Karnataka get Justice. Supreme Court judge giving justice toTN was a lawyer of Jayalatha. Definitely Jayalatha must have given crorers of Rupees as bribe to him . Without checking the ground reality about availability of water it's foolish to give judgement. CBI investigation should be done, but till BJP is in power result is zero

Agreed but that doesn't mean they should vent their anger on the common people who come for justice or to redress their grievances.

We have a fresh case of a bus conductor jumping into a river over allegations that the policemen of Kadaba, in the absence of station house officer, had undressed the conductor and assaulted him. Is any action being taken on the concerned police in this case?
