In addition to this this work has to be done continously to put end to this noise pollution. Eventhough they are fined why they again and again install such heavy decibal shrill horns to the buses. Any entertainment they get from this? In future if they fix the horns purposely they should be heavily fined.

Not sure if the authorities had to wait for the Road Safety week to take this step ? We the public are suffering on daily basis due to this problem. Why no action is taken on regular basis. Anywhere and any time such vehicles which are honking should be penalized. then only you see the real benefit. One day and silly 100 Rs fine, immediate after the road safety week, they will replace all these classic horns. because they are sure that they are safe for another year. Let's not give that picture to them... any time , any where police or authorities can penalize such vehicles.

This should be a daily exercise until its put to an end. Also a fine of Rs 100/- is nothing in the current market. The fine needs to be increase to atleast Rs 1,000/ because only when it hurts the offender he will stop commitment the offense

This has been going on since last many years and the nuisance of Shrill horns never stops. Fine of Rs.100.- per case should be increased to Rs.1,000.- then only they feel the pinch.
Also, withdraw their driving license temporarily for a Week or so.

Why this drama of removing vacuum horns every now and then!?. These will appear in no time as the cost is peanuts!. Instead ban them in totality and don't allow any horns other than factory fitted one's!.

If they agree with your opinion, there would be no factory manufacturing Shrill horns - No workers working for that factory - No trucks transporting shrill horns - No wholesellers - no retailers - Less job for police.
Do you have any idea how many will go out of jobs???

This is funny, the images show the police pull out the plastic horns and leaving behind the electric pump that is the main part in the shrill horn. The plastic horns that are removed by police can be replaced for less than 50 rupees. This is only a show off by the Police and it does not serve the purpose just waste and time and collection of few fines.

let the police be serious about what they do and root out the problem by removing the air compressor mechanism from the buses.

Mangalore has one of the highest vehicle horn noise pollution in the world. It is not only these shrill horns but also the traditional, prehistoric horns used by buses and trucks. They keep on honking even if there is nothing or even when there is traffic jam (at PVS circle) when honking is absolutely useless and irritates the people further.I think this is only one of the hundreds of small steps towards the smart city.
