Instagram adds long-requested features

New York, Dec 7 (IANS): Instagram has added long-requested features that include giving users more control over comments on any post.

"Sometimes there may be moments when you want to let your post stand on its own," said Kevin Systrom, CEO of Instagram in a blog post on Tuesday.

This feature was only available for a small number of accounts but in a few weeks, every user can avail this.

A user will have to tap "Advanced Settings" before posting and then select "Turn Off Commenting" option. It can be reversed any time after posting.

Instagram is also adding a feature in the coming weeks, where a user will have the ability to like comments by tapping a heart icon next to any comment.

The photo-sharing platform has also enabled a feature that lets private users to remove a follower.

"In the past, once you approved a follower, there was no simple way to undo that decision without blocking them. Going forward, if your account is private, you can remove followers by going to your list of followers and tapping the menu next to any person's name," Systrom said, adding that the person will not be notified that you removed them as a follower.

Instagram will also let users anonymously report a post if they believe that someone may be thinking about injuring themselves.
