Udupi: National Youth Cross placed at Our Lady of Fathima Church, Perampalli

Udupi, Dec 7: The National Youth Cross (NYC) which was at Mother of Sorrows Church, here was brought in a procession and handed over by Fr Fred Mascarenhas, parish priest of the church to Fr Romeo Lewis, parish priest of Our Lady of Fathima Church, Perampalli on Monday December 5 at 5.30 pm. Fr Romeo Lewis, Denis Furtado, vice president of Parish Council Perampalli, Ronak Olivera, president of ICYM Perampalli, on behalf of all the parishioners and youth welcomed the cross by offering flowers.


Later, Fr Romeo Lewis offered prayers to the Holy Cross and explained the holiness, the journey and importance of the NYC cross to the gathering. Thereafter, Taize prayer was held for all the gathered which was conducted by Norbert Misquith. At the end, everyone gathered was given a chance to get a close glimpse of the cross and receive its blessings.

The cross will remain at Perampalli parish and adoration will be held from 6 am to 3pm. Thereafter, mass will be held in respect of the Cross. After all the ceremonial celebrations, the cross will be handed over to Kundapur deanery. Those who wish to see the cross and receive its blessings are welcome. This event was conducted by ICYM perampalli.
