Udupi, Dec 9: Stage is set for the platinum jubilee celebrations of the building of Milagres Cathedral on Dec 12.

Platinum jubilee of the church building will be celebrated with the inauguration of the renovated Façade which was re constructed towards the remembrance of the platinum jubilee of the building. Same time some of the repair works has also been carried out.

The present church building was built in the year 1940.

The inauguration of the newly constructed façade will be blessed and inaugurated by the Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi. Bishop will preside over the thanksgiving Holy Eucharistic mass thereafter.

Prior to the main celebrations on Monday December 12, remembrance of the deceased parishioners will be held. Fr Vincent Fernandes, Rector of Minor Seminary will preside over the Eucharistic Mass on Friday December 9 at 5.30 pm which will be followed by candle light procession and prayers in the cemetery.

Day of the Religious will be held on Saturday December 10. Msgr Dr Baptist Menezes will be preside over the celebrations which will be followed by the felicitation.

Day of the youth and the Handing over the NYC – 17 Cross to Mangaluru Dioceses will be held on Sunday December 11. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo will preside over the Eucharistic Mass.

Prior to this, NYC Cross procession will start at 10.00 am from Mount Rosary Church to Milagres Cathedral.

Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of Milagres Cathedral building will be held on Monday December 12, 2016 at 9.00 am. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo will be bless and will inaugurate the Façade of the church. And he will preside over the Holy Eucharistic Mass.

Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo will be presiding over the Public function, while Msgr Dr Baptist Menezes, Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister of fisheries, youth affairs and sports, MLC Ivan D’Souza, MP Oscar Fernandes, MLA J R Lobo, Dinaka rBabu, President, Zilla Panchayat, Udupi, Janardhan Thonse, Member, Zilla Panchayat, Udupi, Wilson Rodrigues, Member, Zilla Panchayat, Udupi, Nalini Pradeep Rao, President, Taluk Panchayat, Udupi, Pushpa Kotian, President, Kallianpur Grama Panchayat, Fr Stany B Lobo, Rector, Milagres Cathedral, Fr. Rolwin Aranha, Fr Prakash Castelino, Walter pinto, Vice president, Hilda Rodrigues, Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council will be present on the occasion.

Konkani Drama ‘Koni Kaay Unyar Na’ by Kalamrth team Kundapur will be performed in the evening 6:30 pm.
