Mangaluru: Bikes collide - young rider loses life

Mangaluru, Dec 12: After two motor bikes got involved with a head-on collision at Mulky in the taluk on Sunday December 11, a young bike rider was killed. The deceased was Durgaprasad Poojary (34), resident of Ashwathkatte in Chitrapu near Mulky.

Poojary was moving towards Mulky from his home in a Bajaj Pulsar motor bike when another bike which came from the opposite direction hit his vehicle near Mission Compound, 'Ksheerasagara', on national highway 66 near Mulky bus stand.

In the accident, Poojary lost his hold on the bike, as a result of which the two wheeler fell down, and hit the road divider. Durgaprasad Poojary sustained serious injuries to his head. He succumbed to injuries when being taken to hospital.

Poojary was the son of the late Venkappa Poojary from Chitrapu. He was employed abroad and had recently come back to his native place. He had married three years back and has left behind an infant, wife, and two siblings.

A case about this accident was registered by the traffic police station at Suratkal.
