Annual training camp concludes at St Philomena College Puttur

Puttur, Dec 14: The valedictory function of the ten day Combined Annual Training Camp for NCC Cadets organized by 19 Karnataka Battalion Madikeri was held on December 11 at St Philomena College auditorium.

Charlie Company emerged as the overall champions at the Camp. The commanding officer, 19 Karnataka Battalion Madikeri, col Sanjay Dutta felicitated the prize winners of the various competitions.

The correspondent of the college Fr Alfred J Pinto complimented 19 Karnataka Battalion col Sanjay Dutta for organising the annual training camp at St Philomena College. He said, "NCC imparts discipline and values among the youth."

The campus director Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro said, "The discipline and hard work of the cadets at the training camp are commendable."

The principal, professor Leo Noronha congratulated all the NCC officials and cadets for making the training camp successful. He said, "In the armed forces, it is not material that matters, but the men that really matters. Men in uniform are the pride of the nation."

Members of performing arts of St Philomena College and the NCC cadets presented various patriotic cultural events.

On the occasion, principal of St Philomena Pre-University College, Fr Vijay Lobo, warden of St Philomena College men’s hostel Fr Rithesh Rodrigues, administrative Officer col Sanjay Apte, Subedar major V Hariprasad and NCC officers and cadets from Dakshina Kannada and from Coorg district were present. Second Officer Venkataramana of Sainik School Koodige compered the programme. The camp adjutant and NCC Officer of the college Lt Johnson David Sequeira coordinated the programme.
